The house was built in 1822 by Gál József and his wife Füleki Juliánna. The house consists of four rooms and the “hideaway” room of general Gál Sándor. The house was sold after the revolution by the general’s parents and became the property of some relatives, later occupied by members of the Fazakas family. The building was inhabited until 1983, after the family moved out the building began to deteriorate. After several renovations the house was in danger of collapsing, and the city sustained financially its removal from its original location and its reconstruction at another site. After 2016 the house was demolished again then renovated. The monument was inaugurated in December 2021. The house is open to visitors.
